The RCH is a stand alone hospital on a campus site with a Women's Centre and Adult services and is closely aligned with the the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. The RCH provides a range of quaternay, tertiary, secondary and community services for the population of Victoria and those further afield. It is planned that the new hospital will provide 340 inpatient and day case beds and a range of ambulatory services, the overall development is circa 100,000sqm.
