RKW worked as part of the Arden Partnership - a consortium led by Costain. The project was a multi-sited scheme covering Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire with a mixture of Mental Health, Learning Disability and HDU facilities. Financial close has been achieved on the two components taken forward.

RKW are retained as Trust healthcare planning advisers to this development and are providing expertise and support to ensure that, on completion clinical functionality and hospital sizing are not unduly compromised compared to an optimum configuration achievable in a single phase new build development.

RKW have worked with this world renowned children's Trust for many years, initially in developing their strategic service and estates vision as part of the GOS2000 project. RKW undertook the service and financial modelling for the SOC in 2000 which envisaged a capital investment in excess of £300m.

The Evelina Children's Hospital opened in October 2006 on the St Thomas' acute hospital site. It provides a range of tertiary services including cardiothoracic and neurosciences and secondary services for children in South London. The hospital provides 120 inpatient beds, outpatient therapy services, interventional suites and dedicated paediatric imaging.

RKW were commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government to undertake the Pathology Modernisation Study. This was a review of the existing pathology services across South Wales in order to ensure that any future developments would meet future service user requirements as identified in 'Designed for Life' and the 'Diagnostic Services Strategy'.

RKW are currently working on this research study, funded by DoH and NPSA with York Health Economic Consortium. The study is focused on establishing the evidence base underpinning key design choices; single rooms, operating theatre lay-outs, anaesthetic rooms etc, and assessing the impact on operating and capital costs.

The RCH is a stand alone hospital on a campus site with a Women's Centre and Adult services and is closely aligned with the the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. The RCH provides a range of quaternay, tertiary, secondary and community services for the population of Victoria and those further afield.

RKW's role is to support the Trust's internal Project Team in preparing the clinical planning material that will form a significant component of the design brief for the Procure 21 partner team for the reconfiguration and future development of Women and Children's services in Hertfordshire.

RKW completed this framework brief in October 2007, which builds upon the decision to secondary services based in Dublin along with national tertiary services in a new children's hospital - potentially co-located with a maternity hospital. As part of our work we engaged clinical advisers from Canada, the USA and the UK and contacted more than 20 children's hospitals internationally.

RKW are healthcare planning advisers to both the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the Lincolnshire Partnership Trust for the development of High Dependency Units and a Slow Stream Rehabilitation Unit in Lincolnshire. Our work includes consulting with the Trust in developing their size and locations.
